Home Desk Lab (homedesklab.com) publishes research-based equipment guides. This page explains the information involved when you read the site, choose analytics or contact us.
Optional Google Analytics #
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand visits, page engagement and clicks on retailer links. On this website, the Google Analytics script loads only after you choose Allow analytics. Choosing No thanks leaves the guides and retailer links available.
When enabled, analytics can receive page addresses, referral information, browser and device information and interactions such as outbound clicks. Google processes connection information, including your IP address, when your browser contacts its services. Analytics uses cookies, including names beginning _ga, to distinguish visits. We disable Google signals and advertising personalisation signals in our website configuration.
Read how Google uses information from websites using its services and Google’s privacy policy.
Your analytics choice #
Use Analytics settings at the bottom of any page to change your choice. If you withdraw permission, we stop the site’s Google Analytics collection, remove accessible _ga cookies for this domain and reload the page. This does not delete information already received by Google.
We store your choice and its expiry in your browser’s local storage under hdl-analytics-choice for up to six months. This preference is used to remember your selection. If you clear browser storage, use another browser or the preference expires, we ask again. Where storage is blocked, the choice may not persist to your next page.
The site’s Google Analytics loader is restricted to homedesklab.com and www.homedesklab.com; local and Cloudflare preview domains do not load it.
Hosting and delivery #
Cloudflare hosts and delivers the website. Providing and protecting the service involves processing technical connection information such as IP addresses and request details. These hosting and security functions are separate from your choice about Google Analytics. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
Affiliate and external links #
Some retailer links contain an affiliate identifier. If you follow a qualifying link and buy something, Home Desk Lab may earn commission. The retailer may use cookies or other information under its own policy. Declining our analytics does not remove the affiliate identifier from a link you choose to follow.
Amazon’s handling of information is described in its UK privacy notice. Other external websites have their own privacy policies. Home Desk Lab does not receive your retailer payment-card details through these links.
Contact information and requests #
If you email us, we receive your email address and the information you include so we can respond. Please do not send payment details or sensitive personal information that is unnecessary for your enquiry.
For privacy questions or requests concerning personal information, use the contact details on our About and contact page. You may ask about access, correction or deletion of information we hold, and raise concerns with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office. Your available rights depend on the information and circumstances.
Changes #
We update this page when our website’s information practices change. The date above identifies this version.
